Youth and Skills Europe

ETF is proud to lead the Youth and Skills Europe project, which enables young people aged 16-30 to engage in EU values and opportunities. Through an annual programme of workshops hosted in FE colleges around the UK, learners will find out how to engage, collaborate and learn alongside their peers in other European countries.

Alongside the workshops, youth dialogue events will bring together young people to discuss their aspirations and hopes for the future relationship between the UK and the EU.

We will offer online CPD for college staff to build collaborative partnerships under Erasmus+ and develop capacity to build sustainable links with partner colleges, and an annual youth competition.

Youth and Skills Europe is co-funded by the EU, and delivered in partnership with Alliance Scotland, Colleges Wales, National Union of Students, National Youth Agency and North West Regional College.

We'll keep this page updated as plans take shape.

The UK will rejoin Erasmus+, the EU’s collaborative programme for education, training, youth and sport, in 2027. International experience can have a transformational impact on learners’ skills, confidence and intercultural awareness, whilst staff can benefit from sharing innovative approaches to pedagogy, skills, CPD, management and leadership.

As the professional body for the FE and skills sector, ETF welcomes the UK’s return to Erasmus+, representing a major opportunity for the sector not only to build profile and influence internationally, but to help deliver national priorities to address labour market needs, support inclusion and remove barriers to participation. It also provides invaluable opportunities to experience other cultures and languages, and to forge friendships across national boundaries.

The British Council is set to take on the role of the UK’s National Agency for Erasmus+. They have recently launched a new programme website where you can also sign up for regular updates to find out how you can support your learners and staff through the programme.
