Why this change matters

We are creating a better ETF experience for the people who power FE and skills.

SET has always been part of ETF. By fully integrating membership into the entire ETF offer will make the experience even better, with more connected professional standards and much more tailored content and CPD.

A single digital portal also will mean no more different logins to access different ETF services, saving time and making it easier to find what you need.

The professional body for FE and skills

Under one ETF brand, we have brought together:

  1. Professional membership (previously managed by SET)

  1. Professional standards, recognition and CPD

  1. Support for individuals, providers, government agencies and funders.

Placing membership at the heart of ETF strengthens our ability to support and represent the whole FE and skills workforce through one professional body.

You can explore our FAQs below and read more about our role and purpose on our About ETF page.

We know change can raise questions. Here are answers to the most common queries about the website updates and upcoming changes.

ETF users

We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to make sure this change is as easy for you as possible. You will receive an email from us after 1 April with instructions on what is happening to your individual account(s). If you have not heard from us by 6 April, please contact us at enquiries@etfoundation.co.uk or call 0800 083 1830

Your MyETF portal will become the home for your connected digital experience. It will be easier to find the most interesting and relevant content, courses and events and save your preferences. For members, it will also simplify how you access membership services and manage your membership. Input and feedback from our members and customers have helped us to improve and simplify ETF’s digital experience and make it easier for you to find what you need

Yes, as part of this upgrade we will safely transport your data into an even more secure system. We’ve also updated our Terms and Privacy notice.

We are sending specific messages per account / platform, explaining what’s happening to that account to make sure it is clear what is changing and what you need to do. If you have multiple emails registered with ETF you may receive more than one email – if that’s the case, please get in touch and we’ll help you merge your accounts. You can contact us  via enquiries@etfoundation.co.uk or give us a call on 0800 083 1830. We're here Monday to Friday, from 9.30am to 5pm.

Membership

Your SET Membership will become ETF Membership. As an ETF Member, you’ll have a stronger voice within a unified professional body for the FE and skills workforce. SET has always been part of ETF and by fully integrating professional membership, it will allow us to better represent and champion your professional development needs.

You’ll also benefit from significant investment in a new digital membership experience via MyETF. You’ll have enhanced access to ETF’s full suite of digital tools, CPD, and development resources. This includes exclusive or priority access to new content, training, events, and services, designed to support your professional journey – helping you make an even greater impact on the students and communities you deliver for, day in, day out.

Our decision reflects thousands of responses from individual members and other ETF stakeholders. We have also been consulting with the Practitioner Advisory Group (PAG); comprised of over 100 members that share their experiences and insight.

By unifying under the single ETF brand, we’re creating a stronger, more connected professional community, to deliver more value to you as a member, to help you thrive so that learners everywhere can achieve more.

SET has always been part of ETF. As ETF Members, you will still have the same support team and even more access to everything ETF has to offer as the professional body for the FE and skills workforce.

We made the decision to change SET Membership to ETF Membership last summer and started communicating with Members about it in July 2025.

Membership renewals will take place a few weeks later and follow a slightly different process this year, but you will be able to renew through MyETF. The membership year will continue to run from 1 April to 31 March.

  • If your organisation pays for your membership (via ETF Partnership), you don’t need to do anything.

  • If you pay via direct debit, you don’t need to do anything (unless you are notifying us of a change in details or wishing to switch payment methods). You will be sent an updated direct debit mandate for the year as usual.

  • If you pay by credit card, you’ll need to renew your membership in your MyETF account.

The only change for you will be the access point for all content and platforms will now be through MyETF, including to your e-portfolio or learning management system (LMS) content.

No, your professional status (QTLS or ATS) will remain as long as you retain your active ETF Membership.

If you are currently on a programme to achieve these statuses, your status and progression will remain unaffected.

Nothing changes for QTLS, ATS, or the specialist statuses in special educational needs and/or disabilities and education for sustainable development (SSSEND, SSESD).

If you are currently on a programme to achieve these statuses, your status and progression will remain unaffected.

Not immediately. You can continue to use ASET, MSET or FSET if your ETF Membership is current. But, we will be exploring this in consultation with our members later this year. We are on this journey together and we welcome your input on this. There will be no changes to your status if you already hold QTLS and/or ATS.

Yes, it will be the same.

Yes, it will be the same.

Your membership history will be transferred automatically to your new account when you first log-in.

We recommend you download your CPD log before downtime, and you’ll be able to add to the new system once it is live.
