Middle Managers - Leading from the Middle
Strengthen your leadership capability as a middle leader within the further education and skills sector using practical leadership and strategic skills.
Programme aim
This programme aims to increase your confidence, skills and knowledge as managers so you can lead teams and drive sustainable improvement within organisations.
Who is this for?
This programme is for:
- New and aspiring middle leaders in the FE and skills sector.
- Existing middle leaders with responsibility and accountability for a functional area or curriculum department.
- Individuals with limited prior management or leadership training.
- Colleagues from all parts of the FE and skills sector, seeking to develop leadership confidence, capability, and impact within their organisation.
Programme structure
This programme will run over four sessions on the following dates;
- 29 September 9:30am - 4:30pm - Modules 1 and 2, London in person
- 13 October 2:30 - 5:00pm module 3, online
- 3 November 2:30 - 5:00pm module 4, online
- 17 November 9:30am - 4:30pm - Modules 5 and 6, London in person
What will you gain?
Leadership self-awareness and practice - reflect on your role as a middle leader and apply effective leadership behaviours.
Demonstrate increased confidence in leading teams and managing responsibilities.
Apply strategic thinking and align your teams to department and organisational goals
Ability to use effective approaches to optimise team performance and support staff development constructively.
Focus on wellbeing and resilience, promote wellbeing for yourself and your team while demonstrating resilience in managing competing priorities.
Able to apply principals of cultural competence and inclusive leadership while fostering an inclusive and diverse team environment.
Design and implement a focused learning action to address a real workplace challenge and evaluate impact and next steps for ongoing leadership development.
For Department for Education (DfE)-funded courses, a limited number of fully funded places are available to participants.
These places are offered to support greater diversity in access to high-quality CPD. To qualify, participants must either:
• consider themselves to have a disability; or
• come from a Black or minority ethnic community.
