SEND Session: Regulate to Educate - Trauma informed practice in FE SEND

Due to high demand for places, Education Partnership North East is delivering a repeat of this popular webinar to support staff working with post-16 learners in FE SEND.

The session explores how trauma-related behaviours may present in educational settings, including withdrawal, heightened anxiety, disengagement and challenging behaviour, helping participants understand the factors that underpin these responses and how their approach can either reduce or increase distress.

Participants will explore practical strategies to adapt teaching, behaviour support and communication, including creating predictable routines, using clear and calm language, reducing potential triggers and building trust through consistent relationships. The webinar also examines approaches to responding to behaviour that maintain dignity, promote regulation and reduce the risk of escalation.
