Explore our member grade criteria:
Advanced membership for distinguished educators
Gain recognition as a Fellow if you have attained:
- Masters or doctorate level qualification
- Minimum 5 years teaching experience
- Advanced technical teaching status
- Hold a Level 5 teaching qualification, and a masters or doctorate in education or the subject you teach (qualifications at Level 7 or above are acceptable instead of a masters or doctorate), and have a minimum of 5 years teaching/training experience (you need to be able to say yes to all three criterion).
- Have ATS status, or an ETF Technical Teaching Fellowship.
Become a Fellow from only £105 per year (annual direct debit) or £8.75 a month (monthly direct debit).
Join your peers with this Member grade if you have:
- Proven teaching expertise
- Career development focus
- Diploma in Education and Training (DET)
- Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTTLS)
- Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)

Become a Member from only £88 per year (annual direct debit) or £7.75 a month (monthly direct debit).
Become an Associate if you are a practitioner or assessor and hold a minimum of:
- Level 3 certificate in teaching (e.g. Level 3 Award in Education and Training, AET) or equivalent
- Or hold a Level 3 Assessor award
Become an Associate from only £88 per year (annual direct debit) or £7.75 a month (monthly direct debit).
Join as an Affiliate if you are new to the profession or a support worker, such as:
- Level 3/4 award (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector, PTLLS)
- City and Guilds Certificate or Diploma in Delivering Learning.
We also welcome:
- Trainee teachers and others working towards post-14 education and training qualifications
- Those in learning support roles
Become a Affiliate from only £88 per year (annual direct debit) or £7.75 a month (monthly direct debit).
Free membership for emerging educators. Join your peers at Student level:
- Become a student member if you are undertaking an initial teacher training education qualification to get FREE membership for the duration of your studies.
- If you are studying for Level 3 to 5 or a PGCE from a recognised ITE provider you can apply for FREE membership.
