SEND Session: SEND, Careers & PfA

  • 15 July 2026 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
  • SEND 26/27

Explore how to strategically embed preparation for adulthood across post-16 SEND provision to support meaningful progression into employment, independent living, and community participation. This practical Luminate run session will help teams strengthen curriculum, teaching, assessment, and learner support through a whole-organisation approach. Participants will consider practical ways to evidence learner-centred progress and demonstrate the impact of preparation for adulthood across the learner journey.

Programme aim

In this Luminate run session, post-16 teams will explore how to strategically and operationally embed high-quality, holistic support for learners with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) to prepare them for successful adult life.

The session focuses on strengthening whole-organisation approaches that promote meaningful progression into employment, independent living, and community participation, considering preparation for adulthood across curriculum design, teaching, assessment, and learner support rather than as a standalone element.

Participants will engage with a practical roadmap for embedding preparation for adulthood throughout the learner journey and will consider approaches for evidencing learner-centred progress and impact in authentic and sustainable ways.

The session supports providers to reflect on how curriculum, teaching, assessment, and support can work together to develop learners’ knowledge, skills, independence, and resilience while demonstrating the effectiveness of their provision.
