In this workshop, you will work through the committee business for a fictional college, to model the behaviours needed to be a committee chair. You will also explore conflicts of interest, and how to deal with them.

Who is this for?

This workshop is for governors who are working towards chairing a committee, or those currently serving as a committee chair for less than two years.


The objective is to move beyond an introductory level of learning and develop practical skills that can support leadership of key governance functions.

Programme structure

This is a two-hour and 15 minutes live online session.

What will you gain?

This course aims to: 

• Develop your understanding of what it takes to lead a committee meeting, and how to effectively communicate committee business to the main board.
