Fundamentals of governance
Who is this for? This has been developed to support governance professionals who have been in role for less than 18 months but it is open to all governance professionals as a refresher
Explore the foundations of effective governance, including ethical leadership, board accountability, charitable responsibilities, and equality, diversity and inclusion. Learn how key governance principles can be applied in practice to support strong decision-making and board culture.
Develop the skills to plan and support effective board and committee meetings. Learn how to balance strategic and operational discussions, use workplans effectively, and produce high-quality papers that enable informed decision-making.
Examine the governance professional's role in supporting organisational strategy, driving continuous improvement, and preparing for future challenges. Explore approaches to horizon scanning and stakeholder engagement that help boards remain informed and effective.
Scenario-based learning
Who is this for? This has been developed to for experience governance professionals.
Develop your ability to navigate complex governance challenges through expert-led discussion and realistic scenarios. Explore topics such as leadership relationships, inclusion, emerging governance issues and board effectiveness, while sharing experiences and learning from peers.
Dive deep into the relationship between the chair, principal and the clerk and explore how they can work together to address governance challenges and organisational pressures.
Explore how governance professionals can respond effectively when governance concerns begin to emerge. Through a realistic scenario, examine decision-making, communication and the actions needed to support the chair and maintain effective governance during a developing issue.
Reflect on inclusion in relation to governance responsibilities and the policy landscape created by the Skills Act.
